This is an organic coffee, produced by a group of women – Red de Mujeres – this lot originates from some 50 producers.
Within this community of women, there are 8 different Mayan languages spoken, highlighting the diversity of culture and language in this area of Guatemala. These women have either been widowed during the civil war in Guatemala or were left when their husbands fled the country during the coffee crisis between 2001 and 2004. With the help of ACODIHUE, a FairTrade foundation, these women and their families have been trained in organic farming methods. They find unity in their numbers and can market their coffee and find international buyers.
Process : Washed.
Variety : Caturra, Bourbon and Typica.
Cup Profile : Raspberry and goji berries, roasted almonds, plum, dark chocolate and toffee. A medium bodied coffee, with a syrupy mouthfeel.
